Notes

1. The above J. Andrews fixed fees relating to various types of applications include the time spent on the client’s application wheather taking instructions from client, considering the evidence, advising the client and preparing and submitting the application. Preparation of application includes completing the application form, drafting a list of documents and drafting a detailed covering letter for the Home Office in support of the application which outlines how the client satisfies the legal requirements for his or her application to be granted. These fixed fees also include any time spent communicating with the client and with the Home Office by drafting letters, emails or on the telephone until the client receives a decision on the application.

2. The above J. Andrews fixed fees relating to appeals include any time spent on the client’s appeal whether taking instructions, considering the evidence, advising, preparing and submitting Notice of Appeal, Grounds of Appeal with detailed legal arguments and Statement of Additional Grounds to the First-tier Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber) or preparing and submitting Notice of Appeal and Grounds of Appeal with detailed legal arguments to the Upper Tribunal (Immigration and Asylum Chamber), preparation of a List of Documents, preparation of a bundle of documents, advice on and the preparation of the witness statements and preparation of Schedule of Essential Reading, which documents have to be submitted to the Tribunal, to the Home Office Presenting Officers and to Counsel. These fixed fees also include any time spent communicating with the client, with the Tribunal, with Counsel and time spent communicating with the Home Office Presenting Officers by drafting letters, emails or on the telephone until a decision is received on the appeal. 

3. The above J. Andrews fixed fees relating to administrative reviews include any time spent on administrative review whether taking instructions from client, considering the documents, advising as well as the preparation of an application for administrative review including detailed legal arguments. These fixed fees also include any time spent communicating with the client and with the Home Office by drafting letters, emails or on the telephone until the client receives a decision on the administrative review. 

4. The above J. Andrews fixed fees for applications do not include assisting the client with any subsequent administrative review(s) or appeals which are charged separate fixed fees as specified above. The above fixed fees also do not include disbursements which are costs related to client’s matter which are payable to third parties (eg. Barrister’s fees, NARIC fees, translation and interpreters’ fees, independent experts reports for example medical reports, UK Visas & Immigration entry clearance fees or the UK Visas & Immigration fees which they charge for the above applications made in the United Kingdom, Immigration Health Surcharge fees which are payable to UK Visas & Immigration, UK Visas & Immigration administrative reviews fees, Tribunal fees etc.)

5. Please note that if the above listed applications, appeals or administrative reviews are assessed by J. Andrews Solicitor at the time of assessing the merits of the case to be of exceptionally complex nature they would be subject to a separate fixed fee agreement with a client and are not covered by the above fixed fees.

6. Please note that where the client does not follow advice of J. Andrews Solicitor generally and/or advice relating to timely production of documents or when the client’s instructions create extra work not anticipated at the time of entering into contract with J. Andrews Solicitor, the fixed fee agreement may be revised and a new fixed fee agreement may need to be entered into with the client.

7. Please note that human rights applications, appeals to the Court of Appeal and Judicial Reviews are subject to a separate fixed fee agreement with a client and are not covered by the above fixed fees.

8. Please note that J. Andrews Solicitor does not charge fees for initially assessing merits of the application, appeal, administrative review or judicial review for the purpose of deciding whether or not to take the case on. If J. Andrews Solicitor subsequently decides to take the case on the client will be sent a Client care letter to consider and to sign if the client agrees with the terms as specified in the Client care letter. Following formal acceptance by the client of the terms as specified in the Client care letter the above fixed fees will become payable in full in advance of any work to be done on the case.

9. VAT is not charged to clients on any of J. Andrews’ fixed fees

11. J. Andrews Solicitor will normally be able to prepare and submit an application within 3-5 weeks of the client instructing J. Andrews, but the client will be notified at the earliest opportunity if this is likely to take longer if for example it takes longer to obtain the documents from the client which are needed for the application. However, in more complex cases it can take 5-6 weeks or longer to prepare and submit the application because of the nature of the application, the complexity of the application and because of the time needed to obtain the documents from the client which documents are needed for the application.

12. J. Andrews Solicitor will always prepare and submit client’s appeals, administrative reviews and judicial reviews within the statutory deadlines.

J. Andrews Complaints Procedure


J. Andrews Solicitor is committed to high quality legal advice and client care. If a client has a problem with any aspect of the service received or about the bill, please try and resolve it with Jasmina Andrews in the first instance by contacting her by telephone on 0208 422 9814, by email ja@jandrewssolicitor.co.uk or by post to 83A Vaughan Road, West Harrow, London HA1 4EF. J. Andrews Solicitor has a written procedure in place which details how complaints are handled a copy of which is available to clients on request. 

If the client is not satisfied with handling of the complaint by J. Andrews Solicitor the client can ask the Legal Ombudsman to consider the complaint. If the client does not take up the complaint with J. Andrews Solicitor first the client will not be entitled to complain to the Legal Ombudsman. Normally, the client will need to bring a complaint to the Legal Ombudsman within six months of receiving a final written response from J. Andrews Solicitor about the complaint.
